Omnidirectional mobile robot
The boarding type omnidirectional mobile robot is a wheelchair type robot that can move freely in all direction with the equipped special mechanisms. It has a 3D laser range-finding sensor to detect distances of objects (obstacles) and use the obtained information to create a potential map of the field around the robot. By taking advantage of this potential map, the robot can marge obstacle avoidance maneuver and motion command of the rider. Thus, it can semi-autonomously move according to the command of the rider while avoiding obstacles.
